Description:
Developed an augmented reality (AR) app that displays the company’s products in the real world. Products can be translated and rotated in real 3D space. Was presented to the company as a prototype feature for their already existing app.
My Contribution:
I worked on researching the AR technology. Used Unity's AR Foundation package to create a "design once, build anywhere" workflow. This would help the team deploy the app on any type of smartphone. I ended up programming the feature to recognize the ground so the user could drag and drop the product into the real world for full 360 degrees of viewing. I also added a feature to let the user move the product around the floor after it has been placed.
Challenges:
• Researched the AR technology and got it to a feature complete state.
• Had to collaborate with six other programmers and designers.
• Had to work within small deadline periods.
• Product had to be presented in a live demo.
